DES PLAINES MAYOR ENDORSES RAJA FOR CONGRESS
Youngest Mayor Ever in NW Chicago Suburbs Backs Krishnamoorthi
SCHAUMBURG, IL. (August 17, 2016) — Matt Bogusz, Mayor of Des Plaines, is endorsing Raja Krishnamoorthi in this year’s open-seat race in the 8th Congressional District of Illinois that includes west and northwest Chicago suburbs. The support from the youngest mayor in the 52-year history of the Northwest Municipal Conference adds to the ongoing momentum for Krishnamoorthi’s campaign to succeed Tammy Duckworth in Congress.
“I’m proud to endorse Raja for Congress in the 8th Congressional District,” Mayor Bogusz said. “He’s an experienced pragmatist who is prepared to bring solutions to Washington when others promise gridlock. Families across Des Plaines and the 8th Congressional District can trust Raja to get things done.”
Bogusz was elected Mayor of Des Plaines in 2013. Previously, he served since 2009 as a Des Plaines Alderman.
The son of immigrants, Raja grew up in Illinois. After college and law school, he became issues director for Barack Obama’s successful U.S. Senate campaign. He also served as a founding prosecutor in Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s anti-corruption unit.
A lifelong progressive, Raja is running for Congress to stand up for middle class families and fight against attempts by House Republicans to cut Social Security and Medicare that are benefits his parents and millions of other Americans rely on.
