Freshmen Congressmen See Opportunities for Bipartisanship Following Recess
Congress, in its first week back from a month-long recess, hit the ground running, passing a $15.3 billion package to help with disaster relief Hurricane Harvey. They have also raised the debt ceiling and funded the government for the next few months. But the agenda for the rest of the year is still packed with unfinished business, including healthcare, the Russia investigation, immigration reform and the National Defense Authorization Act. Any major action will take a bipartisan effort from Congress. Freshmen congressmen Jim Banks (R-IN) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) join Soledad O’Brien to discuss their priorities for the remainder of the year, concerns about North Korea following this week’s full congressional briefing, and what they think Congress will be able to accomplish.
