MORE SUBURBAN MAYORS BACK RAJA FOR CONGRESS
Bullwinkel, Moylan and Cullerton Join a Growing Group of Independent and Bipartisan Suburban Leaders throughout the 8th Congressional District Supporting Krishnamoorthi
SCHAUMBURG, IL. (September 21, 2016) — Villa Park President Deb Bullwinkel, former Villa Park President Tom Cullerton, and former Des Plaines Mayor Marty Moylan are joining current and former mayors from throughout the west and northwest Chicago suburbs to back Raja Krishnamoorthi in his bid to represent the 8th Congressional District. Krishnamoorthi now has eight current or former mayors backing him.
Independents mayors such as David Kaptain of Elgin, Dean Agiris of Wheeling and William McLeod of Hoffman Estates are supporting Krishnamoorthi’s campaign to succeed Tammy Duckworth in Congress. Other mayors endorsing Raja include Matt Bogusz of Des Plaines and former Palatine Mayor and Republican Rita Mullins of Palatine.
“As a local small businessman, Raja Krishnamoorthi has a deep commitment to strengthening our community,” said William McLeod, the longtime mayor of Hoffman Estates. “With his experience in business and government, Raja understands how to make the public and private sectors work together. I look forward to having Raja as an ally in Congress to further policies that strengthen working families and support small businesses in Hoffman Estates and throughout the Northwest suburbs.”
McLeod has been the mayor of Hoffman Estates since 2000.
“I am supporting Raja Krishnamoorthi for Congress because he knows we must create sustainable, inclusive communities for our children and future generations,” Elgin Mayor David Kaptain said. “Raja is a candidate that reflects our values as a nation, and I look forward to working with him to ensure our municipalities have the resources they need to ensure the American Dream is attainable for all our citizens.”
Kaptain was elected Mayor of Elgin in 2011 and re-elected in 2015.
“Raja Krishnamoorthi will go to Washington focused on helping working families achieve the American Dream,” Wheeling Village President Dean Argiris said. “I look forward to working with Raja on economic development issues to make sure we have a strong and vibrant local economy.”
Argiris was elected Village President of Wheeling in 2013. Previously, he served since 2001 as a Village Trustee.
“I’m proud to endorse Raja for Congress in the 8th Congressional District,” Mayor Bogusz of Des Plaines said. “He’s an experienced pragmatist who is prepared to bring solutions to Washington when others promise gridlock. Families across Des Plaines and the 8th Congressional District can trust Raja to get things done.”
Bogusz was elected Mayor of Des Plaines in 2013. Previously, he served since 2009 as a Des Plaines Alderman.
“I look forward to working in Washington with these mayors and suburban leaders on behalf of all the constituents of the 8th District in the west and northwest suburbs of Chicago,” Krishnamoorthi said. “Together, we will stand up for the middle class and fight for hardworking Americans.”
The son of immigrants, Raja grew up in Illinois. After college and law school, he became issues director for Barack Obama’s successful U.S. Senate campaign. He also served as a founding prosecutor in Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s anti-corruption unit.
A lifelong progressive, Raja is running for Congress to stand up for working families and grow and strengthen the middle class.
