Raja Announces Endorsement from League of Conservation Voters Action Fund
SCHAUMBURG, IL. (May 10, 2016) —League of Conservation Voters Action Fund, one of the nation’s leading advocacy groups, is endorsing Raja Krishnamoorthi in this year’s open-seat race in the Eighth Congressional District. The endorsement from the group, which works to elect candidates who will implement sound environmental policies, highlights Raja’s belief that the nations that lead the way in developing clean energy technology will gain a competitive advantage in creating the good jobs of the future.
“We need Raja Krishnamoorthi’s strong voice in Congress—he will bring crucial first-hand experience working in the clean energy industry,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “He is making climate action a top priority on the campaign trail, and he will bring this same passion and commitment to Washington. He recognizes that we don’t have to choose between growing our economy and protecting our planet for our children and grandchildren.”
“As the president of a small business that produces solar technology, I know that investing in clean energy is a moral imperative, a national security necessity, and sound economics,” said Krishnamoorthi. “I am proud to have the support of LCV Action Fund, and I look forward to working with them and their allies in Congress to simultaneously combat climate change and create good-paying American jobs.”
Raja emerged victorious from the March 15 Democratic primary on a platform of fighting to protect and strengthen the middle class. He won nearly 60 percent of the vote in a three-candidate race and has been endorsed by his two primary opponents, State Senator Mike Noland and Villa Park President Deb Bullwinkel.
The son of immigrants, Raja grew up in Illinois. After college and law school, he became issues director for Barack Obama’s successful U.S. Senate campaign. He also served as a founding prosecutor in Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s anti-corruption unit.
A lifelong progressive, Raja is running for Congress to stand up for middle class families. He is committed to fighting attempts by House Republicans to cut the Social Security and Medicare benefits his parents and millions of other Americans rely on.
