CBS News Reporting on: Congressman Raja’s Work to Identify Failures in the Organ Transplant System
CBS News reported on Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi’s work as Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Economic and Consume Policy to identify failures in the organ transplant system. The Congressman told reporters that “[17] to 20 people a day die on the waitlist because they can’t get organs, and the OPOs [organ procurement organizations] are just not recovering enough organs and making sure they’re getting into people who need them…” The Subcommittee raised questions about the integrity and completeness of the data presented, and Congressman Raja further said that, “If you don’t have proper data, then you don’t know what organs exist and are usable to go into people who need them.”
