CNN, or Cable News Network, was founded by Ted Turner in 1980 and is owned by Turner Broadcasting System, a subsidiary of Time Warner Corporation. CNN began broadcasting on June 1, 1980, becoming the first 24-hour news channel in the United States. In 1985 it went outside the USA when CNN International was born.
Today there are 25 satellite and cable channels, radio stations, websites, and other services working under the CNN brand all over the globe. The news is available to 2 billion people in 212 countries.CNN is currently one of the largest news networks, broadcasting in seven languages.

1980 – 1984

1984 – 2014
In 1984 the contours of the iconic CNN logo remained untouched, but its color palette was switched to scarlet red and white. In the new color scheme, the logotype of the tv-channel started looking more powerful and memorable.
2014 – Today
Another switch of the color palette of the CNN visual identity was made in 2014. It was still a red and white combination, but the shade of red became darker, closer to burgundy, and this new touch added professionalism and stability to the logo. It also started looking more passionate and energetic.
Money logo
The CNN Money logo is actually an extended version of the regular CNN logo given in another color palette. In addition to the name of the TV networks, there is the word “Money” next to it given in a clear san serif type. The first letter is capitalized. The lines are narrower than those used for the word “CNN.”
Trump and the symbol
President Donald Trump’s feud with the TV networks attracted great media coverage. In July 2017, he tweeted a video, in which he body-slammed someone with the CNN symbol on his head. CNN immediately responded to the video with an official statement, in which the president’s move was called “below the dignity of his office.”
Shape
The CNN logo is an uninterrupted red double strip that bends and curves to form the acronym. The simplistic image expresses the channel’s unfaltering striving for perfection and innovation.
