Letter: Encourage bipartisan change
Mar 11, 2018
Editor:
What a great thought in action we are currently witnessing that doing the right thing doesn’t have to be approved by Congress. (‘Don’t need congressional approval to do the right thing’ from the Peoria Journal Star, Commercial-News, March 3, 2018)
Sometimes Congress does do the right thing, and we don’t necessarily hear about it. For example, the Reach Every Mother and Child Act, bipartisan legislation to end the preventable deaths of over 6 million mothers and children every year. More than 135 members of Congress from both parties have cosponsored this life-saving legislation in the House and and Senate, including Illinois Reps. Adam Kinzinger, Mike Bost, Bobby Rush, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Rodney Davis, Randy Hultgren, Darin LaHood, Robin Kelly and Sen. Richard Durbin.
Thanking these members for their work will be more likely to insure this legislation passes and brings more cooperation in the future. So take a moment to call or drop a line of thanks, doing your part to bring about more bipartisan work for positive change.
